Matt Dunkley is a leading established arranger and orchestrator on major films. He composed his second feature score for the Anglo-Belgian film Gale Force 10, his first being D’Artagnan and the Three Musketeers. TV includes the new CBBC drama Bo & The Spirit World, No 13, I Saw You, Safe As Houses and Rescue Me.

Matt remains one of the UK’s top orchestrators for film, records and live concerts but combines this with developing his own career as a composer and record producer.

Recently completed the score for the BBC4 drama No 13, starring Greg Wise and directed by Pier Wilkie. His first feature film score, D’Artagnan and The Three Musketeers, an Anglo-French movie directed by Pierre Aknine, was completed in 2005 and in 2006 he scored Gale Force 10, an Anglo-Belgian action thriller based on Belgian’s most successful tv series. His tv credits include Granada’s romantic comedy, I Saw You, starring Fay Ripley; Rescue Me (Tiger Aspect/BBC1) and Granada’s Safe As Houses series.

As an orchestrator he has worked consistently with Craig Armstrong and their movies include World Trade Centre (Oliver Stone/Paramount); Must Love Dogs (David Goldberg/Warner Bros); Love Actually (Richard Curtis/Working Title), Moulin Rouge (Baz Luhrmann/Fox), The Quiet American (Phillip Noyce/Miramax), The Magdalene Sisters (Peter Mullan/PFP Films), The Bone Collector (Phillip Noyce/Universal), and Kiss of The Dragon (Luc Besson/Fox).

He worked on Basic Instinct 2 ( Michael Caton-Jones/MGM, Dimension, C-2 Pictures) for composer John Murphy; Bride & Prejudice (Pathe/Miramax) for composer Craig Pruess; Mindhunters (Renny Harlin/Dimension) for Toumas Kantelinen; and The Prince and Me (Martha Coolidge/Paramount) for Jennie Muskett.

He has also enjoyed very successful collaborations with the superstar “Bollywood” composer A.R.Rahman on The Legend of Bhagat Singh and Meenaxi: Tale of Three Cities and orchestrated the Sony movie Warriors of Heaven and Earth for A.R. last year. He worked with him on Subash: The Last Hero and conducted the score in Prague. He also arranged and orchestrated an A.R. piece recorded by Vanessa Mae for her latest Sony recording.

In the pop field Matt’s arrangements have led to numerous top 10 international hits including collaborations with Massive Attack, Badly Drawn Boy, Russell Watson, Amici Forever, Catatonia, Melanie C, Tom Jones, Bond and Elliot Smith.
