2019 promises to be an exciting year for composer Peter Michael Davison, having recently completed the large orchestral score, for the stop motion animation film Strike. Produced by Gigglefish Studios, with a team from Aardman and featuring the voice of Ken Stott, the film is released as Mango in French cinemas, and will be released in the UK in May this year. French reviews are already stunning. Composed, orchestrated and conducted by Peter, this was recorded at Air Studios London, with players from the LPO and LSO. A truly huge score, where James Bond meets Wallace and Gromit meets Bernard Herman. The soundtrack is released by Total Creative Freedom and Proper Music Group (Jurassic World)
Peter’s work is known internationally, writing the score for the poignant Australian Film, Emu Runner, (TIFF, official selection; directed by Imogen Thomas and starring Australian actor and director Wayne Blair) and also writing additional music for Mike Brook’s critically acclaimed feature ‘rockumentary’, Something Quite Peculiar. He is a composer with leading Australian music production company beatboxmusic.com, and has composed for TV productions such as The Voice, The Bachelor/ The Bachelorette, Holding back the years, I’m a Celebrity and BBC’s Gardeners World and Matron, Medicine and me:70 years at the NHS.
Peter is also renown as an orchestrator and conductor, working with double Ivor Novello winner Joris de Man, on the epic PS4 release, Ivor Novello winning and BAFTA nominated Horizon Zero Dawn. In 2017, Peter orchestrated and conducted with the City of Prague Philharmonic, the score and soundtrack to the Animortal epic Chuck Steel: Night of the Trampires.
In demand as a conductor, he has worked with orchestras across Europe including performances with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, and national treasure, the poet Roger McGough, as part of the 50 year celebrations of The Beatles iconic album, Sergeant Pepper.
Off-screen, Peter has written for mainstream recording artists, including British songstress, Judie Tzuke, folk legends The Oyster Band, and the internationally acclaimed Claire Martin OBE. This included collaborations on the album ‘Time and Place’ released on Linn records, and her 2014 tour.
